I LOVE WALKING!

Walking should not be seen as exercise but rather a necessity. Our ancestors walked every day.

It is a magical exercise because it regulates our hormonal stress response in a positive way & lowers stress hormones.

Walking benefits –

Regular walking has been shown to reduce your risk of heart disease & stroke. It lowers your levels of bad cholesterol while increasing good cholesterol and keeps your blood pressure in check.

It makes you happy, studies have shown regular, moderate-intensity exercise (such as brisk walking) to be as effective as antidepressants in cases of mild to moderate depression. Getting active releases feel-good endorphins into the bloodstream, reducing stress and anxiety.

It gives you energy; a brisk walk is one of the best natural energizers around. It boosts circulation and increases oxygen supply to each and every cell in your body, helping you to feel more alert and alive.

Boosts vitamin D levels, if you’re walking outside in daylight, you’ll be boosting your body’s stores of vitamin D. It’s a nutrient that plays a big role in everything from bone health to immunity.

Can help prevent dementia, being active by has a protective effect on brain function and regular exercise reduces dementia risk by up to 40 per cent.

Osteoporosis, walking is a weight bearing activity, it strengthens bones increasing their density – really important, especially for women. It also helps maintain healthy joints so may help prevent conditions such as arthritis.

Helps tone your legs, bum & tum, a good walk can help strengthen and shape your legs, especially if you add in hills. If you pay attention to your posture as you walk, it can help tone your arms & abs.

I’m a keen lover of barefoot walking; it has been scientifically researched with a number of health advantages. Such as increasing antioxidants, reducing inflammation, improving sleep, reduces stress and boosts immunity.

Happy walking!
