Weight Loss v Well Being

Low Fat, High Protein, Low Carb, Clean Eating, Juicing, Fasting, No Sugar the list goes on and on! Im often asked "how can I lose weight, what do you eat Paula?". Personally I think nutrition is a minefield and Im sure it is for a lot of us, there are so many ways, methods on how to lose weight.

I will be sharing with you methods that I have introduced into my life over the past 3 years on my wellness journey, helping me ditch the scales and focus on my wellness instead of weight loss. But what is right for you and your wellness? Over the past 20 years I have tried all types of different eating, detox regimes. The most random one that comes to mind was a 3 day cleanse, it involved maple syrup, lemon juice and water. Which was advocated from a well known singer, if its good enough for her its good enough for me I thought. After ordering the MOST expensive bottle of maple syrup I was recommended to buy, I had to drink this concoction for 3 days, nothing else. I mixed it up and off I went to work, my colleagues in the gym commented that it looked like "swamp water" and to be honest it tasted like it too. I lasted a morning drinking it which left me feeling demotivated, tired and reaching for some quick fill me up carbs to compensate and so the cycle continued. Clean Eating is a very popular way of losing weight. I was introduced to Clean Eating back in 2011, it did work for me, I felt brighter and was the leanest I had ever been including HITT High Intensity Training but it may not suit everyone. It can be really hard to detox your body, cutting out sugar, caffeine, alcohol etc and stick to it. Other methods that include cutting out certain food groups or reducing them can potentially lead to cravings, bingeing & putting on more weight in the long term creating a yo yo diet effect. I feel that losing weight and what is effective for us as individuals is a very personally issue, there is no one size fits all. We are all unique!
