Meditation for me has been a massive game changer over the past 3 years not only for my wellness but has helped me break unhealthy habits I had created regarding my weight. As well as unhealthy habits I was addicted to the scales, I would weigh myself everyday in the morning and at night, and some days I would jump on and off the scales several times a day. Meditation is the practice of focusing your attention in order to find calm and clarity, it helps you manage stress which in many cases being stressed drives you to eat, choosing quick fixes or maybe over indulging to help you overcome the feeling of being stressed out. Meditation is a practice, if you're never tried it before try 5 minutes a day, preferably in the morning. Sit in a comfortable position and close your eyes, relax your shoulders and gently lengthen through your spine. Focus on the pattern of your breath, breathing in and breathing out without trying to change it. Your mind will wander as that is what our minds do all the time, simply bring your awareness back to your breathing without judgement. Meditation can be an effective tool to help you lose weight as it helps us align the conscious and unconscious mind to agree on changes we want to apply to our behaviour. Those changes could be a number of things such as craving for unhealthy food or control of eating behaviours. I still have my bathroom scales which sit in the corner gathering dust as I am now in control whether to use them or not.
